Biography

Samar Nahas, M.D., M.P.H. is an assistant clinical professor of gynecology and oncology at the UC Riverside School of Medicine. She practices at both the Riverside University Health System – Medical Center and Riverside Community Hospital.

Nahas earned her Canadian board in obstetrics and gynecology from the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada,  followed by a fellowship in gynecologic oncology from the University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, Canada. She then completed a second fellowship in advance laparoscopic and robotic fellowship in gynecologic oncology at the Mayo Clinic. At the same time she earned a master’s degree in public health from Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, Maryland.

On Gynecologic Oncology

Gynecology oncology is a specialized field of medicine that focuses on cancers of the female reproductive system, including ovarian cancer, endometrial cancer, cervical cancer, vaginal cancer, and vulvar cancer. As a specialist, Nahas has extensive training in the diagnosis and treatment of these cancers.

On Minimally Invasive Surgery

Minimally invasive surgery (MIS) is a surgery minimizing surgical incisions to reduce trauma to the body. This type of surgery is usually performed using thin-needles and an endoscope to visually guide the surgery. Nahas is an expert in MIS surgery for complex gynecology, laparoscopic and robotic for extreme obesity and massive uterus, large fibroids, cervical and vulvar dysplasia, labiaplasty and vulvar reconstruction.
